It does!
One more thing. Since the chopped onion pieces don't reduce themselves in size (like when you sautee them on low stove top flame for a long time), I end up using more onions per recipe.

what other kinds of recipes do you throw them into? anything that calls for sauteed onions? they retain their flavor?

You can skip the farfel recipe from the previous post as I see it's already in the thread.
Can you also write the
1. cranberry minute steak
2. honey mustard chicken

I throw them into soup recipes (cuts down on the time), into rice (with the already sauteed onions I can just bake the rice in the oven - cuts down on pots that need washing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, borekas, etc.
If you like sauteed onions in the chulent or eggs, that's another option.

Sure!

meat borekas
1 lb. ground beef OR soft meat, tiny dice
1 small onion, minced/grated OR 1 small onion chopped and sauteed
1-1/2 - 2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt (you can use a bit more if using coarse Kosher salt)
1 pkg. small pastry squares
1 beaten egg
sesame seeds, optional

Preheat oven to 350. Combine meat, onion, cumin and salt.
Lay out puff pastry squares, fill with meat mixture, fold over to form a triangle and close the ends with tines of a fork or tips of fingers.
Lay out on cookie sheet sized pan. Brush beaten egg over each Boreka. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.

mushroom rice
I usually make a saute of onions, mushrooms, salt and black pepper and top the rice with it.
If you want a mushroom sauce recipe, let me know.

sticky brown rice
short grain brown rice comes out sticky and delishes

1 cup short grain brown rice
2-1/2 cups water
1 small onion, chopped and sauteed
1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp teriyaki sauce

Preheat oven to 375. Place all ingredients in a 7 x 10 pan. Bake, tightly covered, for 1-1/2 hours.

OR
1 cup short grain brown rice
2-1/2 cups water
2 Tbsp onion soup mix
1 Tbsp consume
1/2 tsp soy sauce

garlic roasted veggies
the recipe should be on the previous page of this thread

balsamic vinaigrette dressing
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

Combine in small cup. Pour over salad of 8 oz. romaine lettuce and half a container of halved grape tomatoes. Mix well.

southern style chicken

2 Tbsp onion soup mix OR 4 tsp onion flakes + 2 tsp salt
6 minute steaks

Combine cranberry sauce, water and onion soup mix or onion flakes/salt combo.
Pour over minute steaks in pan. Bake, tightly covered, at 350, for 1 hour. (I like to bake it a little longer so that the meat gets softer.)

honey mustard chicken
3/4 cup honey
1/4 cup mustard
garlic powder

Season chicken pieces with garlic powder. Pour honey mustard mixture on top. Bake, uncovered, at 375 for 1 hour.

sunday: grilled cutlets, stir fry veggies, mashed potatoes
monday: potato squash soup, baked chicken w/ duck sauce baked "new" potaotes
tuesday: eating out
Wednesday: something w/ fish. brown rice
Thursday: baked chicken, farfel, veg salad, maybe a soup too

im kinda bummed on patchka suppers lately. who eats it anyhow? my three year old wants fish and corn every night, and fusses about many other suppers. he would be happy with yogurt or cereal and milk too. my one year old is picky too, and eats when and where and how and what he wants: hes an opinionated baby lol. my hubby is chilled and thoroughly enjoys fancier suppers but is cool with simpler stuff. and I am a picky eater. so whats the point of patchka?

Wow, thanks so so much! I'm actually looking forward to Sunday for menu planning and shopping for the week. Nothing like trying a new rotation of foods to get some enthusiasm back into cooking.

Sunday: Leftovers

Monday: Is going to be very rushy, because we will all be in different places at different times, so I think I'll just leave ready-made cold cuts sandwiches in the fridge.

Tuesday: Vegetable Soup, Salmon Patties, Mashed Potatoes and Salad.

Wednesday: Chicken/Vegetable Stirfry and Rice

Thursday: Baked Ziti and Salad

Monday: carrot soup, tuna casserole
Tuesday: veal goulash over noodles, zucchini coins. (Happy Chodesh, everyone!)
Wednesday: salmon-bok choy packages, potato bourekas, lentil soup
Thursday: corn schnitzel, carrot and cucumber sticks, bulgur
