I'm not working tomorrow, so I want to sleep in a little, not rush out of bed. The only thing I have to do tomorrow, cooking wise is to put up the cholent in the slow cooker.
Can I put it on tonight , on high (it's approx 9.30pm here)
Then put on low or warm overnight, until Shabbos lunch? Or is it better if I cook it in the morning?

Prepare in the crockpot (without water) and refrigerate. Put it up when you wake up (add water). We do this a lot.
Starting it tonight will give you a very strong burned cholent taste and I don't think you'll want to eat it on shabbos day. (I know some people cook it for 2 days but I don't recommend it at all.)

I prepare and put in fridge with water and it’s always fine. I don’t want the potatoes to get brown with no water

I can cook it for a couple of hours today. Then refrigerate it overnight & put it back up tomorrow.

As someone who works on Friday till very late, I officially do this all the time. I check and rinse the beans and barley. Throw them into the crockpot with all the spices, oil and water. Cover and stick into fridge overnight. Friday morning all I have to do is plug it in and its done.

I’m so surprised by this question. Me and almost everyone I know puts up the cholent Thursday night. Put it up on low. Check it Friday morning, will probably need water. If it looks like you could use it, put it on high or medium for a few hours. And then before shabbos, put on Keep Warm.

This.
I'm so surprised at the responses! Yes, you can do it. I put it up before I go to bed on Thursday night and it continues cooking until Shabbos day. I add water on Friday as needed and sometime lower it before Shabbos.

I've never really had to. But it'll be really convenient! I with Fridays usually, from home though. I have around 15 mins whilst getting the kids ready for school to put up the cholent. But tomorrow I want to be super organised to enjoy my last lie in before starting work again after Shabbos 😄

I always put my chulent up Thurs night. On low until shabbos lunch. It's yummy and delicious and well cooked. Every guest I have always takes seconds.
It really depends on your crockpot. Mine doesn't burn.

Every time I see this title, it's getting closer to Shabbos. Here it's about four hours now until candle lighting, and my first reaction was that she had better get on with it in a hurry!
