My son is a real boy until it comes to other boys acting like boys and then he becomes really timid, shy, backs off, and shuts down. Lately he mentioned a few times he doesn’t have friends in school. How do I encourage him to make friends?

Make play dates. He needs the time to build friendships one on one. Sounds like he doesn’t do so well in group settings.
