My baby girl is 11weeks old. She suddenly over the past week has become very very difficult to put to sleep (I’m talking hours) and barely naps, like maybe 1.5 hrs combined the entire day. She wakes up after max twenty minutes whether she is held, worn, or put down. It’s extremely stressful and my husband and I are honestly suffering, as well as she. She is getting more and more overtired and her night sleep is getting worse as well. I would really like to not do a cry it out method but we’re getting desperate! Please help!!!!

That sounds like reflux. Is there any history of this in the family?

Have you explained the details to a doctor? It may well be reflux or something, but if the baby's not getting enough sleep it can affect her health. A good, experienced pediatrician should be able to give you some insight.

If it is reflux, I know it is not recommended, but have you tried a baby swing? My baby had reflux and would only nap well in the swing or stroller because of the inclined position. Also look up different burping methods and/pr change formula if she's on formula. Second the idea of amother who said make sure she is not hungry/thirsty.
I'm glad you are trying to avoid cry it out. Cry it out in does nothing but remove from them the expectation that someone will come when they cry, so if your baby has reflux or some other thing physically bothering her, doing cry it out would leave her still suffering but silently and without hope that someone will comfort her.

Sounds like reflux. Is it better if you put her to sleep in a car seat? My pediatrician told me to try this if child was really not able to sleep.
Please don't do CIO on such a young baby. (Except for a rare occasion when you're desperate you can let her cry, but not every day until she gives up.)

Thanks everyone, this problem started the day we started giving her medicine for reflux actually (omeprazole). I spoke to the pediatrician about it and she basically said okay maybe she needs less sleep, but I feel like that can’t be right. My baby seems so so tired but like she just can’t get to and stay asleep. I feel so bad for her and it’s also really hard to deal with such a fussy baby all day who doesn’t give you a break . (Yes my husband is very much an active partner in all of this and takes her and gives me time whenever possible but he works and I don’t right now so a lot of the time it’s on me alone when he’s working)

Could it be a side effect from the medication?

I'm confused.
If this started as soon as you started giving Omeprazole, why don't you stop it and see what happens? Obviously something is bothering her.

We started the omezaprole on Monday, this no naps started on Tuesday. We definitely saw some improvement with the reflux while she was awake but we didn’t give it to her yesterday or today in case it’s causing the nap situation.

Ok so. Omeprazole reduces stomach acid. The cause of reflux isn't always excess stomach acid. The medication could easily be the cause of your baby's discomfort!!
I highly recommend the book The Baby Reflux Lady's Survival Guide!
