I keep track of my work hours and I can't find the amount of hours worked for one day in October. What would I do in such a situation?

If I ask my boss he'll possibly set up a very rigid system to track my hours that could be very annoying but ok

Can you approximate it based on other sources? If you work in an office position, I would say check your phone log or your emails for the first and last of the day. If you work with kids, do the kids have to sign in and out and you can base it on which kid came in around when you did? Obviously these examples may not work for you, but what I'm basically wondering is, can you reference other sources of information to come up with the timing you need?

Then you may just want to ask a Rav. If you give the minimum hours that you would have worked that day you should be fine halachically and then don't have to report the possibly missing hours to your boss.
