When my DD was 4 she was in gan + tzaharon which came out to 7.5 hours. She stopped napping before she turned 3.
She never came home tired or cranky.

Midwest when I had 4 year olds there were two choices 8:30-2 and 8:30 to 3:45. I always chose the 2pm.

What do you do with them in the afternoon?

If you live in Israel it’s different because everyone is on a shorter schedule. The older kids also come home earlier than in other places around the world.
The people I know from Israel go out to the park with their kids/neighbors every afternoon

10-3:45.
I have time with her in the morning as she goes an hour later as the rest of the kids.
She does come home cranky, but after a snack and a few minutes of attention she usually calms down.

4 year old out of the house 9:30-3:30 (including the bus ride.) I think it’s too long for that age.

Mine is out from around 8 45 until 2. It's plenty. He comes home and plays with his baby sibling and talks non stop about his day. We go out a lot too for playdates. I can't imagine him being out for longer. They're babies at this age. He does occasionally get bored but that's okay.

School 8:30-2pm, Friday until 12:30pm. She could probably handle more, but we'd have to pay for it. She does tend to fall asleep when she comes home before her siblings, sometimes she'll go play with a friend after school.

Can you pick him up in middle if the afternoon program? So 6 hours total? That's average for preschools in America.
9-3 usually
