I feel like we have tried everything. When we try to treat the adhd, then we see alot of anixety, when we treat the anxiety, then she gets activated and out of control-uninhibited- what medication combination worked for your child? yes, she is in therapy too but she can't sit through class and has no social life....sigh! I feel like we've tried every medication out there

My DC had the similar story and ended up on the clonodine patch, which helps with both anxiety and adhd

Guanfacine sounds like it should be a good choice.
Maybe also propranolol.
You could also try alternatives. Read the book Finally Focused.

I know she's in therapy. Are you in therapy too? Quite often, the interaction between parents and children may be good but not what the child needs. Also, if the child is seeing and/or hearing unpleasant interactions among others s/he might experience a bystanders effect, then all the therapy with the child directly won't do much; either the people around the child learn better social skills or the child should be removed from the place where the child watches whatever causes the bystanders effect.
Also, diets high in less than optimal healthy foods can cause such reactions in children.

Combo of aztarys (newer drug- sister to vyvanse) guanfacine- morning and night, Zoloft, and vitamin supplements including methelfolate, magnesium and good quality probiotics (morning and night).
Still not perfect but better than anything else we’ve tried

Yes , guanfacine has been a winner in terms of adhd but the prozac and zoloft worked for some time and then stopped working for her

Find a place that does gene site testing. It tells you which meds will work best for you and which aren't compatible. Its just a cheek swab completely painless. Though of course you need the correct diagnosis as well. If your treating ADHD but your child really has anxiety it will backfire. True story unfortunately. Make sure you have a current diagnosis. You should be doing a new eval every few years.

I fixed my son by fixing myself, through therapy.
It’s sad but true. I wasn’t giving him what he needed emotionally. He’s an exceptionally sensitive child and apparently this isn’t uncommon. I feel bad about all the years of struggle, but happy that I finally figured it out. No talk of medication anymore. (He is still an anxious kid, but it’s manageable)

My very high strung and ADHD child has done really really well on Quelbre. Its a newer non stimulant med that was used as an anti depressant in Europe before its use as an ADHD med. I really recommend asking your dr about it.
