Just had my first try at pickled salmon. Looks good all cooked, but do I keep it in the liquid until ready to serve or store it in a dry container?

Yes, keep it refrigerated in the liquid (covered). When you serve it, spoon a little of the liquid with some onions over the piece.

Will the liquid get all congealed like the broth in gefilte fish? Also-any suggestions how not to serve the pickling spices with the fish- thinking now I should have bought some kind of special bag instead of just dumping it in..

No, it won't congeal. Personally, I don't mind the spices and just avoid eating them. I do know some people who put them in a bag or wrap them in a small piece of parchment paper.
