The short answer would be: it depends on thickness!
I presume you're talking about fresh salmon (not smoked salmon), and trying to find how many portions for guests. For appetiser, I think 1/4 pounds would be more than sufficient, so 4 servings from a lb. As a main course, I'd give 2-3 servings per person.

About 2 - 2.5 slices, depending on how thick and wide fish is.

That's right. This amount for filleted slices.
For appetizer size filleted slices, 4 slices equal approximately 1lb.
