Well used to be species, as in it's possible the original chicken bred with other species. but now we're just talking about different breeds. For example the ameraucana isn't considered a kosher breed. But it's very possible that all chickens are kosher, we just don't know. For example, our minhag is yellow legs which likely came from the grey jungle fowl, but the red jungle fowl had dark legs so it doesn't necessarily mean the dark legs came from a non kosher animal, but since it wasn't seen in our areas we assumed it came from birds of prey.

Is a rogue random wild jungle rooster finding some domesticated hens really likely?
I’ve never heard any of my friends with egg laying hens worried about it.

We're talking about like a thousand years ago lol! When they were wild and flew all over the jungles. It was only a few hundred years ago that chickens were bred to not be able properly fly. By the way, it's only very recently that chickens have the ability lay eggs daily .

Anyone know Bingo pricing?
Local Lakewood stores have eggs at $7.99 a Dozen even XL which is usually cheaper since it’s not WIC approved.

I got large white eggs at Trader Joe’s in brick today for under $4 - I think $3.49 a dozen.

Eggs in Brooklyn bingo were also expensive. Maybe 7.49 for WIC eggs? Not sure exactly. I didn't buy eggs because they were so expensive.

But as long as they are given the option, the eggs are allowed to be called cage-free.

Get free range or pasture raised eggs that are "certified humane".

It's very likely these are not blood spots. Are they red, red or brown? Brown spots are not blood.

I'm so fascinated by this. People who raise your own hens or chickens, where do you live?
How many eggs do they produce each week?
How hard are they to maintain?
