I work with toddlers in a daycare, and 2 years ago, the year that we had all the covid babies, 5 of the 12 kids in the class had speech delays for their age. Last year there were also a few speech delayed kids, but not as significant. Typically it's normal to have 1-3 kids with some delays in a group of 12, be it speech, cognitive or physical.

There are infections that by definition attack the nervous system, every time. Flu is not one of them, covid is.

My daughter, born in the height of COVID progressed beautifully till about 12 months (amazing eye contact and socialization and interaction )- got covid , was sick like a dog , now diagnosed with autism .
My anxiety always correlated the two , my logical mind tried to convince myself that all kids with autism progress properly until 12 months .
I remember telling my husband , while she had covid that I am scared she has something going on in her brain as she would constantly rest her head and pull her head as if something there was bothering her .
It is what it is . She is adorable , autistic, can’t bulk up her language, like gets words and then forgets them …
Seeing this thread I am wondering
