Apparently a lot of frum people people think that recipes call for xl eggs when they don't specify a size.

Because WIC pays for L eggs.
people with WIC are buying them regardless of price, and so groceries charge more for L.
Sounds crazy, but every store I’ve gone to has L eggs for more expensive than xl.

But that is the cheapest I've seen. Most places are selling for more, even the cheaper store is up this week to $2.69 for a dozen. Trader Joe's has been around 2.99 a dozen, Walmart is $4.53 a dozen. My local store is more than $6 a dozen. |
Also in Maryland, I paid $1.63 for a dozen last week and $2.38 I think for one and a half dozen. But now that store raised their prices!! Cheaper to get at a local chain supermarket, it’s $2.40something a dozen.

Costco was out of eggs when I was there recently. They blamed the bird flu.

Here in LA, the local kosher grocery is charging 10.99! The non-jewish supermarkets are less. The cheapest I found was 6.49 and there was a limit of 2. Crazy!

Had the same in Brick Costco last week. I thought it was a mistake in the stocking department. Couldn't believe they were out of eggs. Bingo was close to $6/dz. Crazy.

I live in Israel. A dozen large eggs is 14.09 NIS or $3.82. It is price controlled so it is the same price in every store.

Where on earth did you find these prices? I'd love to go and stock up. Live in Baltimore.
