My son came over to me a few days ago (Sunday?) To tell me that he's been making little bits of diarrhea in his underwear without realizing he needs to make. He changed his underwear about five times that day. When he would go to the bathroom, he'd feel like he needed to make, and sit there for twenty minutes, but nothing would come out.
I told him if this continues, I will take him to dr. I think it happened a little on Monday, and he said that when he went to the bathroom he had diarrhea.
This morning he said he was lying in bed before getting up and it happened again. Then he went to the bathroom and said he made lots of splattering of diarheea. I called the doctor but they are closed because its Jan1!!!
I don't think its an emergency.
I told him next time to show me before flushing.

Should I give him miralax? Will it make it worse?

Could it be a sign of crohns? (We have a family history unfortunately)

Sounds like constipation.
Change his diet.
And drink alot of water.
Also there are healthier alternatives to miralax.
Like this one

Thank you.
I will tell him to drink more water.

Are you thinking constipation because there's stuff stuck inside and only this little amount of diarrhea passing?

Encopresis. He’s old enough to be cleaned out fully with enemas. And he needs to be told that he must sit on the toilet for 15 minutes a day and empty out.

Oh my! I've read about it on this site.
It sounds like if its not dealt with right away it gets much worse. BH its only a few days.

He said to me, "please don't give me the thing you stick inside!" (Enemas- which I used on a sibling4 years ago and he remembered)

He could be having a stomach bug. Diarrhea in kids can be complicated. They think they're passing gas and then they poop in their pants. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Give it a day or two and see if it clears out.

Yes. This is a symptom of constipation.

Could be constipation or stomach bug. Drinking liquid is good for both! And don't panic. Give it a few days.Encopresis is very different.

Yes. I would start with miralax every day.
Uncontrolled accident with diareah sounds like bad constipation.
(You can send him with extra underwear to school and tell him to wrap and throw out if it happens there)
