Sorry but just because you are older does not mean you should earn more. That is age discrimination and illegal.
You might have had some work experience before but if it is a different field or location you have to be realistic. Not having a degree limits you.
I also don't see a lot of specifics about skills.

Also- why should they pay you, at higher rates, than someone young? Especially if they have to train both of you?

If you do really have solid experience in a specific field (that you don’t want to mention here) and you’re looking for a $70k type job then you should be focusing primarily on recruiting agencies. They can help find a job for you.

Also, you keep saying “you can do anything” like it’s a plus, but it’s not. The way to get hired is to tailor your resume to the specific job you are applying for. A $70k job in medical billing is going to look very different than a $70k job in retail or a $70k job in bookkeeping. You need to be more specific in your search process.

Also, no one is going to pay you more simply because of your age. If you can show your potential employer you have experience in the specific field they are looking to hire in, then make sure you do. Otherwise, vague “experience” isn’t going to get you anywhere.

She's not saying she should earn more because she's older, she's saying she should earn more because she has more General work experience.

But that’s my point, employers don’t care very much about general work experience, they care about experience and skills in the specific position they are hiring for. Simply having 20 years of general experience isn’t really a plus. It sounds like OP wants to do an entry or slightly above entry level type job but for a lot more money than a “seminary girl” simply because she has more work experience. But the point is that if she wants to get paid more she needs to qualify for a mid+ level job. She’s not gonna get a higher salary doing the same job a less experienced person is doing simply because she has more experience. General experience doesn’t really provide value to the employer in and of itself.

And in order to get a mid+ level type job she needs to do a much better job marketing herself to employers and recruitment firms. She’s not being specific enough. Being vague is your enemy when it comes to job searching! Let’s assume she really does have enough experience in 2 or 3 different fields to qualify her for a mid+ level job. She needs to make different resumes for each of those fields. And approach recruiters and tell them specifically which 2-3 fields she qualifies for a $70k+ salary in.

Bring older is actually a plus in the lkwd job market right now.

A lot of employers are frustrated by flighty unreliable entitled new employees. They want time off constantly. Go on vacation on a whim. Quit for the summer unexpectedly.

Right now reliability is a big selling point for many frustrated employers.

I’d work in selling that as well. Also if you have management experience good leadership and are confident and thorough I’d use those all as selling points. And focus on your specific skills. Not just ‘anything’.

He was desperate for someone like me who he could rely on. Bh it worked out well for both of us.
