Looking to add protein to my butternut squash soup. Normally just do sweet protein, squash onion spices water blend. Anything else I can add to make it a full meal?

Red lentils
Or cook up plain chicken and shred and add to bowl of soup

You can add meaty bones and cubes of meat in a net bag. When done, remove meat and bones, purée soup, and then add back in the shreds of meat.

I sometimes beat an egg (or 2 or 3 and drizzle it into the hot blended soup (egg drop) and let it cook for a few more minutes. I tried it once as an experiment and was pleasantly surprised that my picky littles really liked it.
If you want to make it milchig you can use milk instead of some or all of the water. My kids like to add shredded cheese to melt in their bowls.

I second the can of chickpeas, it makes it super smooth.
