Similar to this, a non-Jewish colleague heard about eruv and was so confused. "It's a literal string? On poles? Around the city?"

We got a fancy new coffee maker at work and it couldn't be toiveled. The rav told my boss to sell it to one of the non Jewish workers for a dollar. That was a really funny conversation.
Boss "I'm going to sell you the coffee maker for $1, it's a religious thing"
Non Jewish coworker "I get to take it home with me?"
Boss "No! It stays in the office. And you can't use this one. We bought 2 and you can only use the other one"
Non Jewish coworker "but you just said you're selling it to me".

And how about selling chometz? We don't actually sell the bosch, just the chometz on it otherwise we'd have to toivel it again after 'buying it back'.

Yom tov is tiring. It's beautiful, but it's not relaxing. I might be taking off work but it's not a vacation.
Not something they can relate to at all.

And why would he pay for it if he can't use it?
