Is it better to have a pink drink (mock tail) on the table when guests arrive at a Sheva Brachot or ice coffee? Should I save the ice coffee for dessert time? It’s a dairy buffet
(I’m from the other thread about freezing ice coffee)

We've done dairy Sheva Brachos, and the iced coffee was more like in pitchers on the table, self-serve. We always start off with an appetizer, like my sister made a Haloumi Cheese Salad; I've done cheese blintzes with strawberrry sauce....But the mocktail sounds elegant too.

Love ideas and that cheese salad sounds yum

How do I make that?

The thing is that there will be lots of younger people. They will have lots of friends (19-21 yr olds) and the chosson has a bunch of nieces and nephews that will be coming too (around ages 4-14). Only a few older adults. So mainly want to cater to the 19 and under crowd

Mock tails are still fun for the younger set too right?

Someone suggested doing some things in mini, that’s why I thought I’d the mini coffees (also less to make)

Taking allllll ideas

Thanks!

Any other ideas? What else is a good dairy/pareve appetizer for kids? I’ll do the cheese salad for the adults

What else for the rest of the meal?

Crowds is mostly under 21 , I would serve pizza! Cheap and appreciated!
Btw for my ds sheva berachos very recently, 2 of them were Milchig, exact same menu!!!

Salad with cheese
One had onion soup
Fried milchig hors d'oeuvre
Choice of pasta/salmon(serve with mashed potatoes and green beans)or pizza
Crème brulée or ice cream

When is it? Depending on the weather, vegetable soup can be nice!

Fried Mozzarella sticks

Both pink drink and the ice coffee are good. You could also alternate them….

Love the mini idea!
Cheese salad for the appetizer as was said.
You could plate it with a breadstick/puff pastry with cheese/ kids can eat that
Mini pizza more elegant than regular- can make with different toppings
Mozzarella sticks
French fries or mini potato knish
Mini quiche
Mini egg rolls- keep some things pareve
Salmon cubes (mini Smile
Short vegetable skewers
Keep the dessert theme mini- mini cheesecake- mini scoops of ice cream- pareve dessert- mini brownies- if you don’t make the veg skewers, make a fruit skewer

So appreciate all the ideas!

How do I make mini pizzas? And how do they hot and fresh? Don’t really want to be busy with last minute cooking. I’m using sternos for keeping food hot but I don’t see how to do that for pizza

Also how do I keep soup hot? Rather not have a pot out. Can I put soup in sternos?

I don’t wanna patchka with making mozzerlla sticks. No idea how to do that

What else can I do for appetizer that kids would like too?

Mini pizzas are super easy
Buy the mazors pizza doughs
Put on a cookie sheet
Put pizza sauce ( I sometimes like to do half with pesto)
Top with shredded cheese
Bake at 425 for 15 min

If fresh you can serve at room temperature .
I prepare raw before hand on cookie sheet and stick in oven 20 minutes before hand

Menu I would go with ( based on dairy sheva brachos I have seen and fact you want buffet)
On plate pretty dairy salad - near place mini baggettes
2 types of pasta( ex penne al vodka, fettuccine, baked ziti , lasagna)
Side of salmon
A cooked veggie
Quinoa salad
Mini dairy finger foods
I like mini pizzas, spinach in phyllo dough, sambousak, cheese borekkas
Garlic knots or onion rolls
Fresh fruit

Soup would stress me out if serving buffet and I would skip
( if you are plating you need less variety)
And they will feel your love which is the main thing 😀

Yum.

What can I prepare ahead? I’m doing this the Sunday right after Shabbos Sheva brachos so I won’t be home until late motzi shabbos! Lots of little kids so I need to really be prepared
