Do you always have to request a raise or have you ever been offered one. Is the rule you dont get if you don’t ask? There are no performance reviews or meetings .

Once I negotiated a raise since I had a competitive offer. Same company a few years later gave it out without me having to ask. It really depends on the organization and company.

I work in a small office run by a Jewish guy in my community. Sometimes I asked, but when I didn't ask for a while, he gave.

Every place is different. Happens to be the one time I was planning on asking after being there for x time, I got a raise out of the blue. And then got another raise due to job shift 6 months later.

For a small company, yes you usually have to ask. They won't offer if they think you are happy where you are at.
