Hi,
Does anyone have experience working with crohns in a natural way?
I have tried the SCD diet in the past and unfortunately it didn't change things for me.
I'm desperate for something. I don't want to start biologics.
Also, any support groups out there?

Thanks

It can be done if you're open to going a completely non-mainstream route.
Kinesiologist
Craniosacral therapist
Homeopath or herbalist
Acupuncture

In addition to diet.
I would add in functional medicine.

You can reach out to jccsg/Mr Drummer. He can connect you with our support group.
As far as not wanting to start biologics, I know it seems scary but I know many people who didn't want to take them and tried different natural things which weren't successful. And after that they agreed to take biologics and are really happy they did. So try to keep an open mind and if natural route doesn't help soon, please take meds!

Did you ever do scd with Mrs Weiss? It's very different than just doing it on your own. She has a ton of knowledge and guides you according to your situation.

The three people I know that were scared of meds and tried natural - "naturally" lost their colon and had major surguries. Never play with your health.

Somebody very close to me is working with a lady I think in monsey or Monroe. The most recent colonoscopy showed great results. I can ask him after shabbos for name and number. Just bump up this thread to remind me.

My child has Crohn's. Our doctor let us try a variety of diets while monitoring the child. Although the numbers did improve somewhat, it was not enough.
So we switched to biologics and the numbers improved dramatically.
I was very hesitant at first, but we discussed the situation with a few top doctors we had access to, and they all agreed biologics was the way for us to go. All I can say is - I regret not starting them sooner.

I was told that in other countries they go on pediasure/ensure for months befroe adding things back in and slowly seeing what does and doesn’t affect that individual person. We didn’t try it becaue it wasn’t a quality of life we were willing to put ds through but it’s supposed to be somewhat effective and can help avoid medication.

My husband was diagnosed with UC (Ulcerative Colitis) in 2015, he had symptoms for maybe 3 years (I just asked him now), it was getting worst and worst.

We were told the treatment is similar to Crohns although UC may be considered more serious and my husband would probably require surgery. B”H he hasn’t had surgery.

Here are the differences between Crohns & UC I found via google:
“Ulcerative colitis is limited to the colon while Crohn's disease can occur anywhere between the mouth and the an**. In Crohn's disease, there are healthy parts of the intestine mixed in between inflamed areas. Ulcerative colitis, on the other hand, is continuous inflammation of the colon.”

Just my husband’s experience:
He felt immediate and continuous relief with Kombucha. Takes it to this day. He drinks the GT brand. Takes one to work everyday, drinks a cup of it at home in the evening.

4 months ago he found a kefir, Fresh Made brand, plain reduce fat. It’s OU dairy. It’s not CY, but he asked a shaila about it. He says it’s very soothing to his stomach.

He did the Dr. Popper diet October 2018. Got rid of the bleeding, loose motions and m*cus (I’m so sorry if this it tmi). I found her on youtube and wrote out her recommended diet. He followed it for the recommended 8 weeks. She recommends you continue to take probiotics for the rest of your life. My husband took probiotics for a bit over a year, didn’t take them after that.
The Kombucha completely eliminated the urgency. After Dr. Popper’s diet he was able to sleep through the night till now.

I would like him to have a little sauerkraut everyday, or there’s a kosher kimchi brand, just anything fermented. I put it on our Shabbos table w the dips, salads & fish, so he gets it in once a week.

Initially Dh took his dr prescribed medications, had different treatments but he had adverse reactions to them. I would like him to be more stringent or follow a diet, avoid spice, minimize certain carbs, etc. it’s just not his way. B’H he’s had some relief. UC and Crohns are no joke. Refua shelima OP.

I avoided biologics and had a clear colonoscopy after 6 months on diet with Mrs Weiss. Theres a entire community of women that I'm in contact with that have successfully done the diet. You need a gi supporting you and strict adherence to diet.
