Please only respond if you, your spouse, your child, sibling, or parent have crohns.

I have Crohn's. Two years ago for first time I developed symptoms and my fecal calprotectin numbers were exceedingly high
I had a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with Crohn's.

Was on mesalamine tablets
BH they helped, thank you Hashem
I tried stopping taking them a year later and was fine for two months and then symptoms came back

So I went back on mesalamine

I wasn't so good Abt taking it and basically stopped sukkos time this year. BH no symptoms. I am really blessed.

Haven't gone back to the GI in over a year.

My OBGYN said I should still be taking my crohns meds because they are preventing deterioration of my digestive system and not taking it wll make things worse....

Am I crazy that I'm not taking meds if I'm symptom free?

Why don’t you do a stool test and and blood work and then you’ll know if you’re actually in remission. Your OB can order it for you if you don’t want to go back to the GI. If they’re good I don’t see why you would need to take medication but likely your OBs concern is that it’s possible to have internal damage without symptoms.

My daughter has Chrons, similar, we did meds and then symptoms went away so we weren’t so good about it, and bloodwork showed her numbers went back up, even though she still didn’t have symptoms, now we were very good about it and her numbers went back down. Going to try to keep it up and then reassess in another few months with her GI. If I were you I wouldn’t rely on symptoms only I would do bloodwork and stool sample, you don’t want untreated inflammation in your body
