this is intriguing, and confusing me. im sure most of you know from the news that they recently caught a serial killer who turned himself in. he was know as the BTK killer.
apparently he had a normal home life all the years that he carried out these heinies crimes.
his wife never knew a thing??!!??
do you think that its possible to live with someone and not detect any such evil in them??
to really be in the dark for so many years??
WHAT DO YOU THINK??

I think it's possible for a person to be such a con-artist that even his own spouse would not what he does when he's not home. Also, his wife might be innocent about such things (as most of us are) and wouldn't even know what the signs of these kinds of actions would be even if they were staring her in the face.

It is possible to lead a double life, most people who do are very meticulous about everything, they very often have OCD and everything is always perfect, they commit their murder clean up spotlessly and then go home and eat dinner.

shoy18, I understand what your saying. but what I find so very hard to belive is that she did not detect A THING??? when you live with someone, you pick up vibes, energy, if you want to go there. its just to hard to belive. from what I know, there is no info about her in the press. she has gone into seclusion, so we cant really hear her side.
but still......

Something else to think about...
Perhaps they were living separate lives 'together'..
Who knows...!

It is totally possible if you've ever read about serial killers, or seen documentarys on them, a lot of them led what seemed to be totally normal lives. Alot of them who have commited many murders are the ones who have double lives otherwise how would they kill so many people without gettng caught.

what is a btk killer firstly and also what is a OCD?

it is possible that she didn't know how many woman in this world don't even know what their husbands are up to only to find out later that their husbands are cheating, drugacholics, ect. Not all woman know what their husbands are up to all the time. like he can do it very clean and still come home on time and she doesn't expects nothing and if her husband doesn't drop any clues then nothing to worry about.

Sometimes people are in denial. They do not want to know what their spouse is doing.
I heard recently about a woman who thought her husband was in kollel, when actually he was VERY far from that. She just never questioned why he came home at midnight, In fact she used to talk about how late he learns.

Most people are normal, decent humans, and so that's what you expect people to be. you aren't looking for clues of something sinister, because why would you.

Also, as some of the posters said, these people are very good at hiding their real selves. They know how to appear normal.

Of course, it may have been that there were some clues, but denial can keep us from seeing the truth about a lot of things.

Thread Dictionary:
BTK: Dennis Rader, a serial killer. Called BTK because it was the nickname he gave himself, short for “Bind, Torture, Kill.” (eew..) More info at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8929452/
His wife was granted an 'emergency divorce'.

OCD: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Fourth Edition)
Either obsessions or compulsions:
Obsessions as defined by (1), (2), (3), and (4):
1. recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced, at some time during the disturbance, as intrusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress
2.the thoughts, impulses, or images are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems
3.the person attempts to ignore or suppress such thoughts, impulses, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action
4.the person recognizes that the obsessional thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of his or her own mind (not imposed from without as in thought insertion)

Compulsions as defined by (1) and (2):
1.repetitive behaviors (e.g., hand washing, ordering, checking) or mental acts (e.g., praying, counting, repeating words silently) that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly
2.the behaviors or mental acts are aimed at preventing or reducing distress or preventing some dreaded event or situation; however, these behaviors or mental acts either are not connected in a realistic way with what they are designed to neutralize or prevent or are clearly excessive
