I defrosted salmon yesterday to make for shabbos. When making the salmon this morning it has this fishy salmony smell. Do you think its spoiled or can I use it?? I am getting nervous because I am having guest and I was really relying on this salmon. HELP!

Fish tends to smell fishy. Take a tiny bite, and if it tastes odd, spit it out and throw out the salmon. Chances are, it would just need a bit of a lemon sauce to perk it up.
Depending on the time of year it's caught, the flavor can change quite a bit. Farmed salmon tends to be a lot fishier than wild caught, so keep that in mind too.,

Thanks FF! Good idea to taste it after its cooked. My hands still have that salmony smell. its stronger than usual. UGHHH

Even if it’s not spoiled if it doesn’t smell good it won’t taste good so why bother making it and serving it? Sorry, I know it’s super annoying to have to toss food and start over
