I bought a much larger can of tuna than I will be needing; it's probably equivalent to eight-ten smaller cans. Some of my guests canceled last minute, so I know I will not be able to finish all of it, so I'm wondering if there's a way to freeze the leftover tuna for future use, and, if so, how? I am referring to the plain tuna, nothing added to it such as mayo, onions etc. If I can't freeze the tuna as is, can I turn it into tuna patties and freeze that? Awaiting your reply asap. TIA

I have never froze tuna plain, but I have prepared tuna pinwheels (in puff pastry dough) and frozen those plain, so I don't see the problem with plain tuna.

I fry up a bunch of onions and mix them with tuna, ketchup, a bit of mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and bread crumbs - like a tuna patty mixture. Then I roll out the puff pastry dough and smear the tuna mix over the dough and roll up jelly roll style.
This is the point that I usually freeze them raw. I anyways place the roll in the freezer for an hour so that it is easier to slice neatly, and sometimes, I just leave it frozen and deal with it when I have the chance.
Then I slice the roll into 1/2" thick slices and arrange on a cookie sheet lined with baking paper. I brush beaten egg over each one and bake until golden. I usually serve them warm for Shalosh seudos with mayo dill sauce for dipping.
