A FAMILY MEMBER WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH CHRONES DISEASE.
She had lost her appitite, lost weight and having to rest a lot, and runny stomach. Finally they went for a colonoscopy (sp?!) and it was diagnosed. Doesn't seem to be very severe- but who really knows as they only now found out.
I'D APPRECIATE SUPPORT, ADVICE AND TO HEAR FROM THOSE WHO'VE GONE THROUGH IT.
THANK YOU

My 7 year old has a secondary dx of Crohn's dis, but since he also has eosinophilic enteropathy, and the treatment for that is elemental diet (which is accepted as a treatment for Crohn's, just not used frequently since it's so unpalatable), his Crohn's is pretty much in permanent remission. Now that we're doing occasional food trials though we have to keep an eye out throughout his Gi tract for eos and for Crohn's stuff.

If you manage it properly you can live a long life with it. You just have to be really careful with your diet. I know someone with junior CHrones and it is much worse. They have to take steriods and are always all blown up. It's terrible.

I have been diagnosed with Crohns for over a year now. Depending on the severity, its a very manageable disease. I am able to work full time and take care of my family like anyone else. For me, I manage my crohns through diet and medicine. Both my parents have crohns and and live very full lives. Let me know if you have any questions.

Would you want a private forum? Do you think we have enough sufferers
R”L to share learned knowledge?

I'd absolutely love to speak to other people who have Crohns... don't know a single other person who has it.

Iduno how active frumsupport is.
Oy, there are so many of us out there, but isn't the health forum the place? Not that I mind a separate forum.

Frum support doesn’t look to be very active, I must say. There’s nothing like a community and I think this place is just about ready for a private forum. I know that many people will join if it’s private, as digestive illnesses are actually the ‘chareidi disease’ of this generation. If you’d like, you should PM Yael your screen name in confidentiality. I think that if there’s just a handful, it will be enough to open a forum. Refuah Shleima.

The past few months I've been having attacks of bad diarrhea and mouth ulcers. The mouth ulcers are extremely painful and often come a few at a time. I once went to a after hours clinic just to check out the ulcers (I was only getting ulcers then, not diarrhea), and the dr. mentioned the possibility of crohns disease, but since I wasn't having diarrhea, I didn't think much of it. Now it's really gotten worse, and I know I should probably see a dr again. I'm curious if anyone here has crohns and what their symptoms were etc.
