Did you use a measuring cup to measure the capacity of the bowl, or are you guessing the capacity of the ladle and extrapolating from there? There is no way the bowls you refer to are intended as soup bowls if they hold just 5 ounces. 4-6 ounce capacity is an appropriate size for dessert. Soup bowls typically hold between 8 and 12 ounces.

Caterer’s wisdom (I’m not the caterer, I just gain wisdom from one)
Soup should be served 8 oz., more is nicer, but not necessary. Less is cheap. 12 oz is a nice maximum. More is overdone.

for those who prefer wider and deeper soup bowl rather than the shallow rimmed ones.
is this a good size in depth and width or is it too narrow?
does anyone have this and finds eat comfortable to eat out of?

I have that exact one
It’s a nice size, holds a lot, easy to eat from.
Just need to be careful when serving if it’s full close to the edge (it’s not necessary to fill that much as it’s a large size bowl). Also it’s wide so a disposable spoon will fall in - just use a regular one.
