Help! can I save my squash soup?

usually I sauté onions and then I add any vegetables I want to use (in this case butternut squash), cook it and blend.

this time for some reason I saw a recipe that has all the vegetables including onions added raw, cooked in water and blended. I also used an enormous number or onions.

I regret that! it's not that flavorful, and there are kind of these stringy pieces of onion...

so I sautéed some onions and blended them in, but it didn't really bring the squash soup to the level of tastiness or the creamy texture I want.

any ideas? what if I cook it for a long time?

Did you add enough salt and black pepper?
You can sauté new onion, strain that soup and use it for liquids for the new onion and blend again.

Sounds like it needs an enormous amount of more salt. Add salt, taste, adjust, until it tastes just right. Then blend until super silky.

(Can add more things later like more sautéed vegetables first more texture, but) maybe puree with immersion blender?

thanks all!

yes I did blend with an immersion blender. I can try more salt. I am in a funny situation of having lost my bottle of black pepper--I think maybe by mistake someone stuck it with our chametz stuff but obviously we can't retrieve or identify it now. maybe that's the problem...

Add a potato and some salt. Cook for a few more hours and blend again
