For myself or my kids. Because we can't afford it.
The only one we have insurance for is my husband because he has a serious health history.
I know it's crazy and not smart.
But we can't even afford my husband's insurance.
We have had insurance in the past but got kicked off for not being able to pay the premiums.
At this point, if I or my kids need the doctor, I just self pay.
Anyone else in my boat?
Not sure what else I can do.

I don't know where you are, but it may be worth taking a pay cut so at least the kids get medicaid.
One medical emergancy and you will be so deep in debt chas veshalom, it is really scary.

OP health insurance is an absolute must, the same way you find a way to pay for other expenses you figure it out. It’s considered basic necessity

I'm in the same boat. We have united refuah. It's great for our family. Might not work for your husband as it sounds like he has a pre-existing condition, but for the rest of you it could be perfect.
But I think even better - maybe you can have Child Health Plus for the kids at least?
How much do you make annually?

What's Child Health plus?
We make about 240,000 a year.

What state? Health insurance goes by state.
Health shares are the exception, United Refuah you can guess from any state.
Child Health Plus for example is only New York.

Hi. I’m in the same boat. No you’re not crazy. It’s 35k-40k annual premiums. Plus co-pays, deductibles etc. so no, we don’t have insurance. We Self pay for everything. For past few years was 2k-5k annual.

Instead of united refuah you can get a (much cheaper) christian health share. Ask a shaila.

If you're used to self-paying for everything, it's worth it to join a health share. You'll have most of the protection of insurance and it's not expensive like real health insurance. It's about $6,000 a year and you'll get some of that back (compared to paying everything out of pocket.)

Sorry but get a basic plan. It is necessary. On that income you should be able to find something to cut back to cover some sort of coverage. Don't want to be blunt but this is essential. More than a Shabbos coat, teachers tips, takeout, cleaning help, vacation or meat. My healthy husband had a crazy random accident and broke a bone, needed surgery, physical therapy for months... If we didn't get a plan we would have been beyond bankrupt. Yes I work more than full time. And expanding my hours if I can so I can pay for this. We don't need a gold plan but some minimal coverage.
I hate ACA in that they got rid of catastrophic plans and forced certain minimum services (chiropractic care? Totally not mandatory or life saving).
Our prices went through the roof after.

Yes.
But we are still not making it.
We are behind in tuition and frequently fall behind in our utility payments.
