Is there such a thing or I have to go through EI from the state?

We have private insurance (Aetna). If this is a thing, can anyone recommend someone excellent for a 1.5yo?

If not, can someone walk me through how to get eval'd for EI services from the state?

Early intervention comes to the house, where insurance not..

You'll do better through insurance - you can choose your provider.
Call your insurance and ask if you need a referral and who is on their list. Bounce those names off your pediatrician, neighbors friends etc.

Ei and insurance are different. They're not mutually exclusive. You can do either one or both. EI is generally paid for by the state. Unless you make a lot of money then you have a copay. EI comes to your house or daycare. EI are contracted with an agency and don't choose your provider. But you can ask for someone new. If you don't like the person you have. Qualify for EI. You need to call the main line and they'll set up the appointments. To get insurance covered therapy you go to your pediatrician and get a referral.

I did both for a time and that's not a problem with us. If you have the time and energy for it. Because the EI was in-home it wasn't so hard

True. Unless you are poor, you pay a copay for EI. Often it's not worth the hassle even if they come to the house but by all means, if you have the time and patience, get both.

Depends what you mean by poor . Most young Jewish families are going to qualify with no or a very low low copay. Yes poor by Frum standards which means not earning six digits.

since there is a backlog in pt now- abt 6 months. once approved they will reimburse your private provider until one is found thru EI. I did that and was a win win!
fyi you can absolutely request a specific pt within the agency you have been assigned to.

We are earning 6 figures and have a small family. What kind of copay would I be looking at?

Beware, they will only reimburse at the EI rate, NOT private pay rates. In my experience they pay around half of what private PTs charge

There’s a shortage of good pts private or EI. I ended paying out of pocket because took too long for EI to get me someone for my baby
