What foods can I prepare and freeze for YT?

Can you all send suggestions on dishes I can prep and freeze. I am very particular on things having good texture so I rly only want things that freeze well

Desserts? Kugels? Side dishes? Salatim?

This is what I prepare and freeze in advance.

Roast beef, sliced - sauce frozen separately so slices stay intact

Corned beef - same as above

Stuffed cabbage

Cabbage & noodles (only if you use egg noodles, not pasta)

Orzo (same as above)

Lo Mein (also, don't use pasta, but you can use the frozen Asian noodles)

Soup lokshen

Chicken soup broth

Challah

Cakes, cookies, frozen dessert pies

Sautéed onions

Chicken roll ups or stuffed capons - I only freeze these raw, ready to bake.

Deli purses; fill, form and freeze with dough raw and ready to bake later.

You can also soak rinse and drain cholent beans. Measure out barley and spices and freeze a semi ready compilation of your cholent.

I am like you so sometimes freeze raw and will fry/ bake either erev yom tov or yom tov
Freeze raw
Schnitzel and chicken nuggets
Deli roll
Knishes
Apple kuggle
Egg rolls
Chicken wontons
Empanadas

Salatim
Matbucha( only if made authentic cheating ways have to much water and don’t freeze well)
Tehina (stir well before serving sometimes needs a drop more water)
Hummus ( same as tehina)
Other Salatim don’t freeze well but ones that are pickled or charif last a long time in fridge


Most desserts freeze well- if you are hosting you can find individual pretty cups that comes with lids( I get on Amazon)
I like making a bunch of desserts in individual cups
People can choose dessert they are in the mood of each meal, and prep is so much easier
I make
Sorbet
Strawberry shore cake
Mouse cups
Pareve ice cream with peanut butter crunch
Lemon freeze
Chocolate trifles

I also like to have baked goods to serve with dessert ( most freeze well)

Rookie question: what’s the difference between egg noodles and pasta and how can you tell? 🤦‍♀️

Can you please post a link to the dessert cups from Amazon? I would love pretty ones with covers.

Also, if you can post the recipes for the choices you listed that would be a big help.

I buy the Chuster bow tie noodles (rounded edge) and Chuster orzo.
When I buy Ronzoni orzo or bow ties, the texture is mushy and off after freezing. You'll notice there are no eggs listed in the ingredients on pasta packages.

Sure.
Crumbs:
2 cups flour
1/2 c sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 egg

Apple mixture
5 cortland apples
1 Granny Smith
1/2 cups sugar
Nice sprinkle of cinnamon

Layer crumbs (light coating save majority for the top. Then apples then remaining crumbs. Makes 2 9” round pans.

Freeze raw. Stick into preheated oven on 350 for an hour-hour and a half until top starts to brown.

We like it the second day so for example I’ll often bake Thursday night to use for shabbos. But that’s our preference

I make very good use of my freezer, but I have a question after 30 years of doing this.
Does it really make a difference if you freeze your apple kugel raw or baked? I always bake and freeze but I see people posting to freeze raw. Thanks.

Sometimes I double the seasoning.

Orzo

Sauté onion, bell pepper, mushroom. Mix together with cooked orzo and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Or sauté onion, mix together with orzo and season with salt and pepper to taste. Crisp up diced salami. Add to the seasoned orzo.

I find it gets a little watery if frozen when already baked. Nothing too terrible, but if you have pickle eaters they might not go for it
