Aidel - Israeli charedi circles

Charedi Israeli - can you tell me if Aidel is used here? Can they pronounce it?
I’ve seen other Yiddish names in circulars etc, but not Aidel.

I think people would think her name is Edel
Which is classified as a more modern name.

It depends how you pronounce it.

there's a beautiful Yiddish name that's used in the US, and it's sometimes shortened to Idey. Pronounced Iy-dee

I know of 2 American Israelis with the name Aidel. I don't think it's considered too strange.

I work with new babies.
I once met a french one called aidel, and the mother was so happy I knew how to pronounce it - she said everyone else assumes she means 'Adel'..so be prepared to argue back that actually u know what u have named ur daughter!
It isnt unheard of, but Adel is very very popular (in a wide range of circles actually, from breslov through to litvish right through to chiloni)

I'd pronounce it Aydel, but I'm really only interested in the Israeli norms, not the US. Thanks anyway

Yes I was talking about like adele the singer.
Its an interesting name because it really is used throughout the religious spectrum. Is it rabbi nachmans wife who was udel/adel? My daughters in beis yaakovs all know regular chareidi adels

With an I sreali accent the end of the name is more pronounced so the "del" of aidel would sound like the end of the names Rachel or Yael with an sraeli accent.

Litvish charedi israeli dont really use it. Adele is popular but its not the same name.

I don't agree with this. I'm litvish charedi israeli and Aidy may not be common but it's definitely out there.

No it wouldn't. There's no long Ay sound in modern Hebrew. So the ppl pronouncing it with the emphasis on the last syllable will not be starting it with a long A.

I've never heard the name Aidel in Israel. Just Adele.
