I have 3 fancy guppies in my fish tank, and I just noticed that the 2 females are pregnant, I just got them last week! has anyone else ever raised baby fish? did you just let things run on their own, and whoever survives survives and whoever gets eaten,so be it. or did you get a special tank for them?

If you do decide to try to raise them, move the females to a new tank asap, and the bigger the tank the better because the water quality will be less variable. Good luck!

now I'm confused, I was sure they were pregnant and now I'm not so sure.
I read that if they have a dark spot on their belly, that means they are pregnant but the spot is not always there. so I dont know anymore. Confused

I thought that our fish were pregnant too when we first bought them but well after a couple of months we realized that they were not pregnant. as for baby fish either put them in another fish tank or there are special little things not sure what they are called you will have to ask your fish store guy that you put in your fish tank and the babies sit in it until they are big enough to come out on their own.

they can be pregnant for 20-40 days. and no they didnt ever give birth. I think they had an abortion. I'm serious I read about it when they arent comfortable they lose the babies. but who knows. now they died anyway so we got new ones. all males this time.

We used to have guppies when we were kids. When the pregnant fish were pregnant, my father would transfer them into their own enclosed section of the tank, and they couldn't be disturbed AT ALL. They almost always ate their young if conditions weren't good enough for their comfort. Once in a while one or two babies survived who actually grew up...
