My baby had a well visit today and they're worried about her weight.
They said she's been consistently losing weight for the last 6 months and it's not good.
I really don't know why she would be losing weight. She eats really well and doesn't seem to have any discomfort/stomach problems.
They want me to give her an additional 2 bottles a day for 2 weeks and then follow up again.
Any ideas what this may mean?

They can't mean that she weighs less now than she did six months ago? You'd surely have noticed that.
Do they mean moving into steadily lower percentiles?

14 months
She eats mostly table foods so that's why we're supplementing with bottles

What kind of table foods? At that age they need a much more calorie rich diet than an adult does.

Not necessarily. She grew a lot (height) but the taller she got the skinnier she became. I do think there was a point where she weighed 21 and she's just about 20 now

All kinds. This is a sample of what her eating schedule looks like on an average day:
A 2 oz bottle (one scoop formula) right when she wakes up
Breakfast is oatmeal and applesauce. Sometimes if she's hungry enough she'll eat a small banana too.
Then she has another 2 oz bottle when I put her down for her nap.
Lunch is usually a slice of WW bread and half an avocado.
Another 2 oz bottle in the late afternoon. Sometimes if she's hungry I'll give her a 4 oz bottle
Dinner is usually mashed vegetable and chicken patties but she started refusing that so I'll have to come up with something else.
In addition to all that she has a 5 oz bottle in middle of the night.
I think it sounds normal to me

Can she tolerate full fat dairy? I'd add that.

Does she get colds often, move a lot in her sleep? My son didn't gain weight for ages and now finally at four years old we discovered that his adenoids are huge and are blocking 70% of his nose, so he was basically using all his energy to breath.
We did a special formula of double calories till he hit 9 kilo (I think around 2) and then stopped. He always ate amazing so I could not understand why he didn't gain.
Around 3 he finally started to look his age

Actually losing weight at 14 months is very concerning. I would focus on high fat products. Like cheese and avocado. I have a daughter around the same age she eats a lot more she has at least 2 snacks a day / usually fruit or crackers/ pretzels and her dinner includes fat/ protein and carbs from what you wrote its hard to know if shes eating all that.

Why do you give her only a 2 oz bottle?
2 ounces is a newborn serving size. She could be having 6oz...
Also she isnt having carbs or healthy fats in a big way.
Add cheese, avocado whole milk yogurt
Mashed veg and chicken is what dinner on a weight loss diet looks like not a thriving 14 mo toddler's. Add rice potatoes...
Are you very weight conscious for yourself?

In my unprofessional opinion, that sounds really concerning. I hope you get to the bottom of it.

When one of my children didn't gain weight for a while, The doctor told me to give high fat food. They told me to add olive oil to everything. Bh he gained.
Another child didn't gain nicely as a baby, turns out they had a heart issue and actually was using all their energy breathing. They had to have open heart surgery. Bh now all good.

Does baby drink red milk. That should fatten her up. And yes more food needed. Cheerios and milk. Yogurt. Sandwich with cream cheese. Macaroni and cottage cheese. Meatballs and spaghetti. Also wondering by you are giving a 2 oz bottle. Give at least 6 oz unless baby really doesn't want so much

Another point to consider is that babies usually take in their calories over a 24 hour period. If she's taking a bottle in the middle of the night, and it seems like it's her biggest bottle of the day, she probably is making up for calories that she didn't get during the day.
I would insist on medical tests, the Dr would know which ones but also try to actively feed her more food specifically high calorie

I'm not concerned about a medical issue because she grew. Celiac kids don't grow - it's not just weight. It's a lack of calories to keep up with the growth
