My 17 month old loves the toilet, the other day I by mistake left the bathroom door open and found him in there with one of my sweaters dunked in the toilet, he was swishing it around in the water. Its a good thing he didnt try to flush it.

My 2 year old son loves the toilet too. He stuffed things down the toilet. He put toys an apple brush and other things that I must not know about.

I can't stop laughing LOL sounds like my 14 month old every spare minute in the bathroom if the door is left open. babies love water and toilets contain a lot of water so it is great entertainment.

how would you lock the bathroom if you have slightly older children, who are toilet trained, who need constant access to it.

put the lock low down! a baby cannot reach the same level as a 3 year old. the lock can be just low enough for the 3 year old to reach.

u reminded me of my toilet story, When my son was little, I had come home from the store and I was looking for a cute little hardcover book I just bought, I was frustrated I thought I left it in the store although I remembered buying it. Oh I was quite annoyed that I couldnt find it. A little while later I found it in the toilet!

We have a lock on the toilet itself, which my older daughter can open, but my toddler can't yet.

That, however, doesn't prevent my younger daughter from sliding small things under the lid, so I still have to check that there is nothing in there before I use it Smile.

I have the most HYSTERICAL picture of my 10 month old....everyone who sees it says we have to submit it to a contest. Anyone know of a baby contest that doesn't charge $$??
Anyhow, one day we heard fussing and my husband found my baby IN the toilet - head UP (thank G-d.) We are now extra careful to close the bathroom door!!
Lemme see if I can upload the picture somehow..[/img]

We have those child lock handles over every door knob practically in the house. My 2 and 3 year old will run away if we don't have it on the front, back and garage doors. The basement door has one too. All the bathrooms. My bathroom doesn't have a normal door, just a sliding pocket door, so we have a toilet lid lock and a hook and eye on the outside of the bathroom. I just can't deal wtih uncertainty. I'd rather know that there is no possible way my kids can get into something then have to be on constant guard about it.

Lately my oldest has started climbing on the kitchen table to get stuff from the kitchen counter - it is driving me crazy. We just finished child locking every single drawer in the kitchen, but they keep getting taller and more able.

Oh, and they figured out the fridge lock too, so that is another area taht drives me crazy. I like to be able to sit on the couch friday night and allow mychildren to play in the living room and occasionally run outof my view into the kitchen - but now that they can access the fridge and counters I have to constantly get up! I just want to be lazy in my ninth month!

I had the exact same experience with my daughter! Fell into the toilet while playing, and bh! head wedged between the water and lid....All those things they tell you to watch out for are true! wrap around the cords of mini-blinds. It happened to mine. If it wasn't my habit to run in and check on every sound, it could have been serious chv. It's really important to follow saftey precautions. Never drink a hot tea with a curious baby on your lap.... I always get nervous when I see toddlers outside many feet away from their mother. How are these parents so relaxed? I never dared take my eyes off of my kids in public areas. I may be overprotective, but better safe than sorry.
