It's actually very cultural whether men or women are thought of as more s-x obsessed - I remember reading a version of 1001 nights, basically a collection of Middle Eastern folktales, and being surprised at how, in story after story, *women* were shown to have more interest/desire than the men. It's a very different view than modern Western culture. |
Ya well, it's fairy tales dreamed up by - men. There are studies out there that the average man thinks about s-x at a far higher frequency than the average woman. Can't be bothered to google now, but anyone who wants to check, could.

Oyyy poor sweetie. You must either have had a very bad experience or been brought up by someone very broken. I am guessing you don’t actually know men, work with men, have any interactions with normal men or have healthy brothers.
Wishing you only positive experiences.

Men thinking about s-x more than women do, doesn't make them obsessed.

Men might be on average ready to DTD but women, as far as I can tell - I may be wrong, are h*rnier

First, I don't think men tell fairy tales any more than women do. Second, these weren't men's s-xy fantasies, it was mostly showing up as a negative trait in women. Third, how do you explain the difference in this between cultures? Western fairy tales have the Western idea of the man as the pursuer.
I did google. Most of the results seem to discuss one study of a relatively small number of college students. You can't generalize from that to the whole world - it's not a representative population. And that study found that men had 19 s-xual thoughts to women's 10, along with thinking about food and sleep more, so it's not necessarily about s-x, it's an increased focus on the physical in general.

I mean maybe we shouldn't go out in public if men seriously can't control themselves.
I think you are right to some degree. And that's why men have their own Mitzvah to control their thoughts. Maybe we should cut out the names of the imahos in tanach because men can't even read female names without thinking of inappropriate things.
Also just asked dh about wet hair and he laughed so hard, he says it's the most farfetched things he's heard, he immediately asked me "Why are you asking me this? Is it an imamother thread?"

I don't think they are innapropriate - but they look really ugly
When hair is actually wet - it can look really nice, but when you are faking it with gell and mouse and whatever, it just looks gross imho

As a curly head I can tell you that my hair looked like this in the 90's, either mousse or leave in conditioner. The alternative was a bush. My sheitel macher actually always wears a sheitel like this. the short curly moussed/wet look.

Re tznius, I think the idea is that wet hair is a less refined look. If we are Hashem's princesses, we should always look our best and be pulled together to represent that high level position. I hate when we compare to the English royalty (because, geez, who cares?), but none of the women in the Brit royal family would go out with wet hair. No brainer. To me, that's the idea behind it being considered less tznius... similar to things like nail polish color being neutral, height of heels, etc.
Re the wigs, I would love to know what the sheitelmacher showed to OP. I used to wear my hair out wet all the time when I was single (curly hair, and did not want to damage my hair with blow drying). That said, I don't feel like I would ever need/want a wet look wig.
Of the 3 pictures posted, I only think pic 3 looks like actual wet hair (and I don't dislike it). The first two pics don't look like ACTUAL wet hair, they are just that "wet look" that comes in and out of style-- hair with a lot of gel/product to look like that.
For what it is worth, Kim K in pic 1 gets criticized for appropriating a Black appearance/look (her ethnic background is white... half Armenian and the other half I think northern European of some sort). Rihana in pic 2 is from Barbados and has a very mixed background typical of many people from the Caribbean. I don't know if the woman in pic 3 is a celebrity... but she reads as white to me. The reason I mention this is b/c different hair textures due to background look good styled different ways. Those styles become popular for people that wear them well. I think a wet look sheitel could look appropriate and tznius on some Jewish women if it compliments their hair texture. On other Jewish women, it would look pritzus. I don't think there is one right answer that applies to all.

Dave Barry, who is a great comic and a man, speaks the truth in a very funny way. If he says the average man thinks about s*x once every three milliseconds, he's clearly exaggerating. It's probably only once every three seconds.

Re how hair looks out of the shower: my hair is literally only nice-looking after a shower. The rest of the time it's a thick, poofy, tangled mess. After the shwer it's gorgeous. Having said that I wouldn't wear a wig that looked like that - it just looks weird! |
Regarding the folded, I had never heard it and had a shabbos guest who mentioned that she was taught that, my husband literally laughed put loud and said your teacher must have been a l€sbian with a dirty mind. It was a super weird connection to make to him

The average man MAY think about it more than the average woman, but they are not obsessed.
