Crunchy curls are definitely a wet look, but if I understand correctly the currrent styles at not specifically curls, though those are in as well. Just wet and often slicked back (probably harder to achieve the hairline with a wig)

FYI celebrities have been pulling this off for a while.

Btw, I think this is just a step further from the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic that has been trendy for a couple years. It pairs with the slicked back tight middle part pony tails, shiny highlighted skin and natural looking makeup.
