I just made fish balls (frozen roll, defrosted & cooked in tomato sauce & water) for shabbos.
It made much more than I need.
Can I freeze them now? Has anyone ever done it? will it be spoiled? just not taste as fresh? taste weird?
thanks.

I did once and it wasnt bad at all.. when you take it out of the freezer just let it defrost before putting it in the fridge, thats what I was told and it was good..

I agree with the above. (I bake my fish.)

People on this site will tell you no prob.
It was HORRIBLE when I took it out of the freezer, I ended up just having to through it out. However, maybe because it's in ball form it might be better. I just froze the regular loaf after cooking and that my friend, was a BAD idea.

I don't like freezing boiled fish because it defrosts watery. Fried is ok though.

If you put it in a hot oven it sort of dries it out. But I don't like the texture.

boiled doesnt thaw well - turns to mush but baked or fried works well

it's all in how fussy you are and what you're gonna put on top of it.

Yup boiled and frozen taste awful. You could cut the raw loaf in half and only cook the part you need. Put the other half back in freezer. With a sharp knife, a frozen roll cuts well.

I fry it, and then freeze whatever I don't need for that week. I wouldn't put it back in after it had been boiled in tomato sauce though. It last a couple of days, almost a week - serve it for supper one night this week.
I would also freeze gefilte fish that was shaped into patties and covered in crumbs, but not once they had been baked already.

I always bake 4 loaves at once and freeze them. I take out a loaf as needed and it tastes just fine and is one less thing to do every week
