I’ve not heard of any concern over non heimish flour in North America. (If yoshon isn’t an issue)

I would use flour with a “regular”hechsher.

I think I’ve gotten psak I can use sugar without a hechsher, but honestly I don’t remember and I think it only ever came up in 2020 with weird covid supply chain issues.

I would buy sugar not flour. Only because I buy the kosher brands that are sifted. If I bought walmart brand I would sift myself which is a pain

On top of that, I have found that some store-brand flours are of inferior quality.

According to cRc, flour and sugar are both kosher even without any certification. So whatever it has is more than sufficient.

Bugs can get in through the packaging of both heimish and store brand flour equally. Sift at home.

What’s the Issue with the OU?

It’s troubling to see a post on a frum site suggesting there’s something wrong with the OU hechsher.

The OU is widely regarded as one of the most trusted and respected kashrut organizations, not just in the United States, but worldwide.

It’s important that we approach these discussions with responsibility and accuracy, particularly when it involves something as serious as kashrut.

As someone who found a fly in their flour, do not rely on paper bags.

Walmart flour was ok I think Target low quality. Ou is perfectly fine for flour. Obviously won't say yashan.

Don't the heimish brands also say they recommend sifting at home on the presifted? I always sift no matter where it comes from and presifted or not.

Calm down no one had any issue with the ou. Sometimes a hechsher will give to an item but not that it was checked for example you can buy lettuce with a hechsher and still need to check it. Question was if u buy ou flour does it still need to be sifted etc

I mean, that wasn't actually your original question. You asked if ou is good enough for flour.

Is there a difference between bleached and unbleached because I think the Walmart brand is bleached.
