French and British people call a down filled comforter a duvet. The linen you encase the duvet in is called a duvet cover but I’ve seen places that make that mistake and call the duvet cover a duvet. Very confusing. In Yiddish a duvet is a dochene. In Hungarian it’s a paplanj. It’s pronounced sort of like poplon with a y at the end making the sound of y is yes or you like a Hebrew yud.
