And duchene seriously how do other people call it? Blanket? It’s not the same thing. When you say blanket I don’t think of the feather kind. So do people call it duvet?

You don’t have to wonder anymore. I know. Kàposztàs tészta is cabbage noodles. Cooked noodles with sautéed cabbage. Your spelling was creative but mine is Hungarian Smile

For everyone so excited about the wooden spoon it’s two words. Fa means wood. Kanàl is a spoon. If you run them together you can amuse yourself by pretending to say a bad word.

Segen which is really szegén doesn’t mean crazy. It’s the same as nebach. Nebach is better than any English word but I guess you could say it means unfortunate and deprived or you could say missken in Hebrew.

Chinush which is really csinos isn’t skinny. It means you have a great figure and you look chic. If you’re really skinny you’re not csinos. You have to be thin with some padding in the right places and dressed to the nines. To a true blue blood Hungarian skinny isn’t a good thing.

You are the first person that ever got that one right ! Most people I know call it kroht lukshen. But I love me some kapisshtastaysta! Sorry, I like my variety of spellings better.

Agreed. And if op is out there, you should change your title to Hungarian edition instead of chassidish edition. This thread has been very enlightening. I never knew there were so many Hungarian imamothers hiding behind proper English screen names when really they should be Frimtshu neni, Byloo neni and Riftshu neni.
