Brisk bochur goes on date with BJJ girl. First date so they're discussing time in Eretz Yisroel. She's going on and on about Rebbetzin David and mentions how she taught them that when you say "shelo asani [non jew] in the morning, you shouldn't think about some drunk homeless guy. You should have in mind the President."
Bochur says back, "When I say shelo asani isha, I have in mind Rebbetzin David." |
I’ve head this one before, and I happen to find it insulting, rather than funny. I don’t understand how any woman would not be offended by this joke.

Because it's a joke? There's what to get offended about a lot of the jokes on this thread. Most people can take a joke. And most jokes have the ability to offend somebody.
(How would I understand the story? If I thought it was true? That the boys an arrogant idiot. I still don't need to be insulted because it's not meant to be taken seriously.)

I actually found it to be a joke and also admiration.
Reb David said to have in mind a great person who reached great heights (like a president) when saying shelo asani [non jew].
So the Bachur shot back to have in mind a great woman like Reb David when saying shelo asani Isha
I find this less offensive than most of these jokes

Yes, I found it to be him expressing admiration for her, that she's on the level of importance in Judaism that the president is for the USA. It's almost sweet lol

My son told it to me. I never knew if it was true.

Spin off. That's how it's used on this site.
It's a spin-off on the thread of Chasidish jokes.

I don't know, this made me LOL. The analogy is the most chashuve non-Jew: the most chashuve woman.

A Brisker and a BJJ girl are on a date.
BJJ girl: So, did you ever read the Michtav M'Eliyahu?
Brisker: No, but I think I watched it.

And here's a Lakewood one. Let's see how many of you get it:
I don't know why people say the men in Lakewood don't work. Every guy I know in BMG is a programmer.

And the famous Reb Chaim one that is funny whether it happened or not.
A guy goes to Reb Chaim ZTL for a bracha, and Reb Chaim gives his standard "Bu Ha"
Guy: Can I please have a longer bracha?
Reb Chaim: Sure. Boooooooo haaaaaaaa."
And another Reb Chaim one they say really happened:
Bachur: Is it okay to play basketball on Shabbos?
Reb Chaim: How do you play?
Bachur: Well, the object of the game is to throw a ball into a basket.
Reb Chaim: It's better to put the ball in the basket before Shabbos.

Jokes aside, I’m. It familiar with the brisk character and trying to understand the nuances of these jokes.
In short, what is the brisk character like?

Mega machmir on anything possible. Will enunciate each word of shema s-l-o-w-l-y and will go back and repeat if not satisfied, no matter how many times it takes.
