I know Monsey mainly from work related visits and from visiting people mainly on the outskirts.
I feel like maybe I'm not understanding the culture and it's be a big mistake to do this without enough research.
Thanks for your help everyone. |
Why are you looking to move to Monsey? Especially at your stage in life & especially if you don't have family here & you'll be renting. What will you gain from moving? Williamsburg is so much more convenient & I wouldn't move away without real good reason. There's nothing attractive about main Monsey anymore.

Who said I live in Williamsburg?
To me any center that has what I need on a daily weekly and seasonal basis is attractive.
I know what I'll gain.
I'm just not sure I get the nuances or if it is possible for me to grasp it when I'm not living there.

By now it’s very different, totally in the area with ridge and S. Cole built up and chasidish, with a variety of fine and simple chasidish families living there, but a bad name is hard to get rid of. |
Oh... ok.
Thanks for the explanation. I will slowly ask around the people I do know.

Oh, I thought you mentioned that you live in Williamsburg.
Sorry, my bad.
Though moving to Monsey, to a rental, in your stage of life, with no family around; needs to be with good reason. There's no advantage really of main monsey over any other chassidish community. And it's really not convenient if neither of you drive.

You need to move urgently?
Maybe come for the summer first and see what it’s like?
