Don’t have time to ask my rav. I want paying attention fast day just snuck up on me.

Im super dehydrated, running a fever . I stopped nursing about a month ago

My kids are three and eighteen months.
I’m on my feet all day taking care of toddlers, although tomorrow I will only work from 8-1 because it’s erev shabbos.

Should I fast?

My husband is weird about fast days and always tries to get me to do the minor ones even when I’m pregnant . I think he’ll be angry if I don’t.

But ever since pregnancy number one I get nauseous super easily. Plus I won’t have energy to keep up with a class full of toddlers .

, standard yeshivish.

Why are you going to work if you have a fever & are dehydrated?
A Rav will most likely tell you not to fast.

You don’t fast minor fasts when even slightly sick. It’s a definite no.

Fever equals no fasting, even according to the most machmir. Women all fast in my world, no matter how many kids (we don't do the minor ones when pregnant, but are encouraged to start Tisha Bav abd see how it goes). Tell dh you have a fever, and you think the halachah is not to fast. If you can't call or text the rav (they get tgese calls the night before all the time), he's welcome to.

And I would call the rav ata neutral time and ask for his basic guidelines on fasting for you, and have that knowledge.

Btw, I think you might be surprised at your dh's reaction. Men can sometimes be very black and white about halachah without going into the nuances. And they don't understand pregnancy, or the difficultiesof fasting whole watching kids. But the average neurotic man I know would hear this and say, "Fever? No fasting."

I've got covid. I'm not fasting.

Last time I skipped a fast was when I had gastroenteritis on Tzom Gedalia, about five years ago. I normally regard fast days like I do every other halacha, not something to pick and choose. When I'm coughing this much, I can't manage without drinking.

(I know it's covid because I tested, but the not fasting was based on symptoms, not diagnosis.)

It shouldn't take you longer to call your Rav than posting and checking back on your thread

You’re running a fever and asking if you should fast?

The answer is no, you should not fast. I’m sure that’s what any Rav would tell you.

Last year it was also on a Friday and I needed to cook and also do Mikvah prep. Many years prior I had asked a shayla and was told not to fast. So even thought I usually fast, I didn’t last year. I kept it a secret and didn’t tell anyone that I ate a bit during the day. That way my husband couldn’t be annoyed.

Your dh doesn't have to know everything you do...

Call a rabbi yourself and ask if you feel like you should fast

Would DH listen to a rav? I don't think any normal rav wiuld allow a man to harangue his wife over fasts she's not required to do! To me, DH's controlling treatment of you is a bigger issue than this one fast!

I am getting over a pretty bad bout with Covid. I have been dehydrated. I cannot see myself fasting. If you are sick, no reason for you to fast on a minor fast day.
