Im considering becoming a shaitelmacher. I stopped teaching because I was earning very little. I love hair and wigs and am quite good at it however I want to invest in myself towards a career that I can do till Im ready to retire. Don't know any shaitelmachers above age 50. I feel like I'm late in the game, I'm 35 and have a family of 6 bh. Are you a shaitelmacher? Till what age can you imagine working?Approx how much are you earning? Are you able to balance your family/work life? What are the pros/cons of getting into the wig industry? I would greatly appreciate any info .

I know Shaitel macher over 50.

The key is in staying up to date with styles etc. and physical health being you’re on your feet a lot…

I have a family member in her mid to late 60s who is a sheitel macher. Don't know much about her work but I am so excited for you that you want to invest in yourself and pursue something you're interested in! Hatzlacha!

She's also a hairdresser, not just a wig stylist, and she has to be in her late 70s or early 80s though she looks much younger thanks to a great complexion. And she goes to classes every year to learn new techniques and styles.

I know several shaitel machers in their 50s and 60s. It is a physically demanding job (standing on your feet much of the day) so keep that in mind
