Do you need to be a kohan to name your son aharon?

Why would you think that? There are so many aharons out there.

Nope. We have an Aharon and know many aharons that are not cohanim.

No, I would have never even thought about it.
Can only converts be called Rut/Ruth/Rus?
Can only gingers be named David?
If my son is unlikely to have super high intelligence, can I still call him Solomon/Shlomo?
Can I name an ugly baby Esther?
If my daughter does not have two older brothers, can I still name her Miriam?
If someone names their baby Yosef/Joseph does it mean they want him to live in Egypt?
Does naming my son Jacob/Yaacov imply that he has an evil twin?
Just to be clear, I'm not laughing at OP, only pointing out things that seem similar to me.

My DH is a kohen and our last name is Cohen. I davka would rather not name any of our sons Aharon because “Aharon Cohen” is just a little too on the nose for me, lol.

I know someone named Aharon whose last name is "Hacohen" not just Cohen. Even worse, IMO.
He's Aharon Hacohen Hacohen.

But he's not being called up for an aliyah as Aharon Hacohen Hacohen. He'll be called Aharon ben Whomever Hacohen, period. Or Aharon Middlename ben Whomever Hacohen.

True. He's still called Aharon Hacohen by his friends. And I never saw his tefillin bag, but that probably says Aharon Hacohen Hacohen, no?
