Lol now sheitel machers going up rapidly from $45 to $55-60 is actually something I have a problem with, especially sheitel machers who have no overhead expenses. But I usually leave when the price jumps too high and find someone newer and more affordable.

Where on earth are you getting those prices? Mine charges 85 and she’s considered cheap. Others in my area charge 200.

Hava Java donuts come from Zomicks bakery. We sell them to HJ wholesale at around .65 an empty shell and they fill, decorate and then sell at $12
That's highway robbery at it's finest.

Do you work at Zommick's? Because I am CRAZY over their custard donuts. Best ever!!

I don’t get the question. It’s one thing to complain about groceries going up in price because we literally need food to eat. Or to complain about the cost of health insurance and how little they cover. But a fancy donut? That’s like complaining that designers charge $1000 for a pair of shoes. Don’t buy the $1000 shoes. Don’t buy the $12 donuts. I promise you’ll more than survive.

So you think $8-$10 a donut is justified for a 'specialty' donut, which is the same donut as the regular ones just a diff filling?

I live in monsey the same store selling specialty donuts for 9$ also sells a slice of cheesecake for the same year round. And an omelet is also more expensive than eggs…

People here do not seem to think we're entitled to fancy donuts for cheap, but store owners here seen to think they're entitled to sell at crazy prices just because they can.[/quote
they are entitled to set it at whatever they want. Even $1M
Maybe no one will buy but they can set that price if they want

Yup I’ve seen articles about a $1000 burger. With real edible gold. If you’re crazy enough to buy that, good for the store owner for thinking of a smart way to make money!

Don’t buy them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Please dont throw tomatoes at me but its very easy to say " Dont buy them" if you cant afford it. A basic doughnut is not so much cheaper. I paid close to two dollars each for basic custard ones. I give my kids each a half. No im not poor. Im actually college educated and so is my husband but some how every thing having to do with being frum has become insane. This must must stop. ITs not right. The attitude became dont buy it dont use it etc etc. We are creating "luxury Standards" for no reason. I know this is not communist russia and there will always be people that have more etc but to keep raising the bar for basics that have to do with the simchas hachag is not right. I am not talking about luxury or pile of gifts like x-mas that became the new "minhag" I am talking about making a child happy with WHOLE doughnut instead of a half which I simply can not because of this insanity. I hope I am explaining myself right.

Regular donuts are not insanely expensive, considering the price hikes of basic ingredients. Have you bought a dozen eggs recently? (It seems like the baker has…)

“I’m not poor I’m actually college educated” it’s called being bougie poor. Kind of an elitist attitude no?
I think 2$ a donut is reasonable considering the costs involved.

Its called being "Working poor" sorry you dont understand. Nothing bougie here. I dont get any kickbacks from the government and expected to pay in full for everything when Im just about 500 dollars over the income guideline limit. I dont know what you think is elitist. I probably didnt explain myself well. I meant that I did my hishtadlus and got a degree that made sense to support my family.

Dunkins customer base is slightly bigger. Their workers might be getting smaller salaries, their rent might be cheaper. So many details to find out, I should set up a meeting.

Dunkin' donuts are kosher. And taste the same. Stop complaining and don't buy the overpriced ones. I buy $2 donuts and that's it. In richer areas the stores charge whatever they can. I guarantee that the rent is higher there too.

I always cut donuts in half or quarter. Because they're expensive and anyway too big for kids. I tell them this way they can taste more than one kind.

I don’t understand the statement “I’m not poor I’m actually college educated”
To me it sounds like “I don’t actually earn much but I’m not like these poor low class uneducated masses, I have a degree”

Most chasidim or all dont eat dunkin hechsher. If I could I would and I dont think there is anything wrong with people who do. Just pointing out its not an option for every one.
