I found out that I am expecting a girl Heart, and we really want to choose a feminine name in Hebrew that is an homage to my grandfather Aharon (he did not have a middle name). I could easily just go with a name that starts with aleph and call it a day, however I'd love to go a little deeper than that if I can and pick a girls Hebrew name with a meaning that is similar to/aligns with the meaning behind the name Aharon. (We did that with my older daughter - we named her Yakira (precious) in homage to her great-grandmother Sima (treasure) - maybe not an obvious connection on the surface but one that felt meaningful to us).

But to do this, I need to understand the meaning of the name Aharon.... but I can't figure out what the shoresh of the name is or what the meaning/translation would be. Any insight?

Apparently ( according to google) it means strong one or warrior or mountain of strength. If this is the case you could go with Adira which also means mighty or strong.

That could work perfectly because Adira was on my shortlist of "just starting with aleph names that I also really like" lol. I also googled Aharon and saw those meanings but I was confused about how you pull our strong one or warrior from the name Aharon - I don't see that in the shoresh? But maybe that's my mediocre Hebrew education failing me.

I would name Elisheva, ahuva, or Shalva.
Or choose a different name and save Aharon for a boy

Are there any outstanding qualities of your grandfather that you can name for?

Would you use the name aharona? I'm sure I've come across that before.

It’s not your mediocre education. It’s Google’s mediocrity. Google is a really bad source for stuff like this. Trust yourself. Your basic Hebrew education is a thousand times better than Google.
