Oh love this thread..
Really want to go to a remote place in Vermont or new Hampshire or even upstate NY if its the right place. Driving up from monsey.. Want an airbnb cabin like feel with things to do in the airbnb so that is in itself an attraction ..and then outdoor activities one day and indoor another.
.something charming and quaint for kids ages 5 to 15 mix boys and girls..
Maybe something with history in there..I want them to be fascinated and their minds expanded to something new (meaning not looking for just cheap thrills type of places)
Budget is open.

If there is literally no budget, this is the ultimate airbnb with activities

Fort Delaware Museam is in the area
https://thedelawarecompany.org/

Pocono Mountain Maple tour looks amazing - they are on friday, but I will look around if there is something similar a different say

3 kids ages 3-7 in Lakewood area.
Free or as cheap as possible

Get the museum pass from the library and do Crayola factory( big discount) or childrens museam of Manhattan (4 free - so you only pay one entry)

Practically free and perfect for that age.

Yes please!!

There are 3 ways to get discounts, The first is online. You go to either Playbill or TheaterMania about a month before performance & see what is available. That is my preferred way to get discounted theater tickets as I can see where the seats are on a seating chart, I don't have to stand outside on a line & I have the tickets in hand before I shlep to the city

You can stand online at one of the two TKTS booths & get tickets on the day of performance for evening shows or the day before for matinees.

You can also see if the show you want has a lottery or rush system but that's a bit of a gamble - but also the best deals.

I love this idea but my baby is literally a baby and wouldn’t be able to participate and I don’t think my husband would be able to watch the others adequately by himself. Do you have any other ideas of something we could do?

Ok - makes sense

What about Williamsburg VA?

First day, drive down, do only free stuff - historic jamestown ( the glasshouse is very cool) the Jamestown Ferry, and then walk Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square ( lots of quaint shops).
Stay in this Holiday Inn for 90$
https://www.booking.com/hotel/.....&

2nd day do Busch Gardens if you want to splurge or some of the colonial stuff that isn't free

Busch Gardens has a 50% promotion today only to go thru january 5th.
https://buschgardens.com/willi.....fers/
Thats 250$ for 6 people

Or
Colonial Williamsburg

Jamestown Settlement

Heres chabads website with a more comprehensive list of activities and minyanim/kosher food

Oh man I’m too picky I think. are there any ideas of mostly indoor activities?
We’re planning on doing Williamsburg in the spring when it’s a little warmer. It’s low 40s here now and just wouldn’t enjoy it in this cold.

We’d be ok with staying in a fun comfortable cabin or someplace with a game room and indoor pool available or something like that. With a nice view maybe.

(Btw Williamsburg really would be spot-on for my family so it was a great recommendation. I just hate the cold!).

Problem with a cabin is the $$$ - not easy to find something in your budget
Here are some options, nothing really with a game room in that budget - unless you go to one of the resorts, but those are over budget

OP you’re so nice for doing this!!

3 kids ages 8, 9, 12

Budget $1200-$1500

Can leave From any NYC airport.

Would love some type of island vacation, beach, sun, sand. Bonus if hotel has water park or activities for kids. (Would rather not Florida since we’ve been there many times)

Ice Skating at Rockefeller is open - I would do that + go out to eat in a nice dinner
Or just the city in general

That budget is kinda tight for Puerto Rico, unless the dates are for the end of Jan. The exact dates make a huge difference. Also - do you have any promotion cc cards - like Hilton rewards?

Actually Harrisburg/lancaster sounds like a great idea! I’m going to look into it. If you have extra time later and wouldn’t mind looking up a hotel for us that would be really appreciated 😁
