There are programs which are $10-$14k per room that are beautiful well run programs.
Plentiful food, Beautiful spreads, many many frills, nightly buffets etc. Not every program out there is high end, nor is every program trying to be high end. Many many successful established programs that are moderate priced (subjective).
Keep in mind this year because the first Seder is motzei shabbos, majority of programs will be approx $1500.00 ++ more than previous years because there is a full extra day. |
People have different standards. I have been going to pesach hotels for the past 20plus years (minus covid) and there are many programs that we don't even consider because of the hotel the program is going too. Even if we went to the program a previous year and its a great program but they are going to a different hotel that isn't up to the standard we want. You have to realize that the people going to these high end programs who are dropping lots of money to go on these programs are used to a certain standards.

And no need to fight about prices and all this. Whoever is interested can reach out to hotels to get a quote and an idea.

I found this great website, where you can search by location, gives summary of the program and numerous other categories you can search to you preference and it also gives you the prices:
https://www.passoverlistings.com/
Just remember, you also need to get there, so factor in flights.

We're super picky about where we'll spend pesach. We fly pretty far some years, so the program and food, hotel quality, etc, need to be top-notch. I've spent 67k for this coming pesach, between flights, program, additional outings... as a family of 5, I expect quite a bit for this price tag.

We did FFH last year family of 5 for a big suite for 11k. Definitely reasonable for everything we got. We were very happy!

Let's move this to the high end purchases forum!
By Pesach, including g clothes and additional expenses, it will top 70k.
Though we don't know how many people this is for. She could be including married children and grandchildren.

I said 5 people. And no, none are married or grands. Also, I don't buy clothes special for pesach.

BH I’ve been going away for pesach for 30 years. I too can list the ‘standards’ our family has. But that wouldn’t answer OP question about ‘average’ program costs. OP still has not told us where in the world she is looking to go so no one can give her a targeted answer. She also hasn’t said the level of frumkeit she is looking for so we don’t know where to start. And her use of the word average implies that she’s not asking about super high end (as seasoned pesach travelers we both can name the top/most expensive programs) I stand by my response that there is a vast range. None are ‘cheap’ but an ‘average’ program will not cost 67k for a family of 5. Very very very far from it

My point was that there is a huge range of what's average. For what I pay, it's not average. It's expensive so we expect high end. But if you divide our rate for pesach into a per person expense, it's about 13.5k each, including flights and chol hamoed activities. That's not terribly expensive in comparison to the quotes of 20k for double occupancy, not including flights or activities. So, average really depends on who, what, where, and when. There are European programs that are far cheaper than US ones, but the crowd and expectations are different. We would need way more info on what OP is looking for.

I was reading ppl who spend in this range are starting to rent their own place and bring their own private chef and staff for the same price. Do you see that happening?

Not among people I know. I hear alot about people with much lower budgets doing that in places like FL. Not really what we're looking for for pesach.
