Have you ever tried to calculate the payroll for one week? I have. There is no way in h*ll that the measly Satmar tuition covers the entire budget. Then subtract the tuition of a third of the people who get breaks. Anyone blaming the administrators with pocket lining are welcome to try the job for a couple o weeks. I’m sure the awakening will be rude and abrupt.
No, I’m not an administrator. I just know my math.

Thank you.

Satmer tuition is so cheap, it's laughable. There's no way tuition covers the salaries of the staff.
Majority are on vouchers in Williamsburg. They encourage everyone to go get vouchers

This is so not true. I live in Williamsburg. Been sending to this satmar for over 18 years. Never once did they ask me to get vouchers. Not "once". And I probably am entitled to it based on my income. Can we stop the bashing?

They fundraise a ton like the previous poster wrote. Majority of Williamsburg are on vouchers. They don't give breaks. If you can't pay they'll try their best go get you on vouchers. It's only these few that are not on vouchers that you are making the calculation from but those are usually the ones who are donating as well. So yes your calculations makes sense if it included only tuition. And if they got this measley tuition from majority of parents. And this is also only cheider. Yeshivah is not cheap at all. Why not? What's the difference? Oh cause there's no vouchers for that age...

Here's my question, sorry for being the pessimist.

Increasing the salaries by 30% is a huge number all at once. Is R' Landau committing to paying this difference himself? If yes, for how long? Why do I feel like this is a wonderful idea, but one that will result in a huge tuition increase for the parents? (Similar to what happened in the litvish world when Torah Umesorah advocated for giant increases for teachers/rebbeim and the following year all tuitions skyrocketed)

Yes. He’s committed to five years. Partnered with another philanthropist. They signed a contract.

I think you are talking about NYC (Brooklyn) where vouchers are common and easy to get. That helps the mosdos very much. In Monsey where there are no vouchers, tuition is much higher even in Satmar.

My neighbors that send to Satmer Monsey paid $175 per child. They are mad that tuition was raised to $225 this year. A joke.

The school may get vouchers for your children without your knowledge.

Satmer gets millions in government funding, they know how to take "advantage" of many different grants. Also, vouchers are available in New York and pay schools about $1,000 a month per kid
Also, the rich people in the chassidish communities give a lot of money to support their mosdos. However, it's the government funding that allows tuition to be $200 a month not donations. Let's not kid ourselves, Eric Adam's and Chuck Schumer were at their events this week for a reason.

School does have a fund called Ben Gamla where people pay extra monthly to help fund one who cant afford or yusim. This story did not happen in Satmar!

Every big establashed mosed in NY will get the maximum funding from the government. Its not only Satmer. And yes Satmer is known for Chesed and they do get very big donations from their members that are well off. I dont think they get more funding than any other mosed.

Every single moised in Williamsburg asks if you have vouchers when signing up. All of them try to get you to apply if you don't have and they think you might be eligible. I don't see anything wrong with that. They get over 1k a month per kid on vouchers and tuition is only 3-400. There is no way the 6k I pay every year is covering all their expenses.
