I've been doing this for some 6 months, but the last few days I am so hungry. Maybe because I'm nursing, maybe because I'm under the weather, but the amount of food I usually eat isn't cutting it.

Today I ate
6 hardboiled eggs
a big handful of almonds
2 generous servings of PB & chia seeds
a can of tuna with mayo
(I usually don't even eat this much.)
plus my gummy vitamins and some throat lozenges for my cough. And a few squares of dark chocolate.

I finally ate a small bowl of pasta which I almost never do. And I'm still hungry!

Any ideas of what else I should be trying to have around? Needs to be cheap. Even if I can't do it now it will be helpful for me to have ideas for the future.

The bulk of what you are eating needs to be vegetables, raw and cooked. The protein and fat are good but have to be eaten in moderation or you won't lose weight. Eat lots of cucumbers, baby carrots, bell peppers, kohlrabi, that will fill you up. Also, just check your food to be sure you're not inadvertently eating something that's triggering a craving which might be what's making you "hungry".

I understand skipping fruit if you're on a low carb diet but where are your vegetables? Eat a giant bowl of salad greens. Make yourself a platter of roasted veggies. Munch on celery sticks and cucumber slices. You need fiber.

Didn’t go over so carefully but is,that enough food? It seems low just skimming superficially so maybe that's why you're hungry still?

Personally I love weight watchers as it helps me focus on wholesome food, to not over do it, yet to not under-eat either (& I hate focusing on calories & macro numbers) ww helps me have basic criteria & then I can eat more intuitively

Hormones can also influence appetite, where one is in their cycle.
Or Inadequate sleep, hydration too.

Sunflower seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Avocado
Cottage cheese
Olives
Ground turkey

That's very little food overall and you're breastfeeding. Pls don't deprive your baby of nutrients.

Wanted to add - You wrote you usually don't even eat that much. Is that a daily food intake?
Because when nursing caloric needs go up quite a bit too. It just sounds like not very much food.

Anyhow, some ideas that I like are
Yogurts or cottage cheese with salted nuts
Roasted veg
Cooked eggs with salsa
Salad, maybe with shredded cabbage with evoo & feta, sliced olives, seeds
Tofu, sliced added spices or some marinara
Frozen fruit, soy milk & protein powder smoothies

I don't eat vegetables, I get my fiber from chia seeds and an occasional fruit.

Thank you for all the ideas! Not all are so budget friendly but there are a few that should be helpful.

I can't just calorie restrict, I have prediabetes and my body really can't handle very much carbs.

I think for many people vegetables are what helps you feel full especially if your avoiding carbs. I dont know how you get around that.

more dairy. but you can't live on that much protein; that's not great for your kidneys. what about seeing a nutritionist?

do you also not like vegetable soup? if you dont mind it, make a huge pot of veggy soup that includes beans and split peas as well as some brown rice noodles. freeze in portion sized containers and defrost yourself one every day.
Brown rice Pasta in moderation should be fine, especially since your nursing.
